Twenty pages

Harold provides an update on his first creative project for the year.

Well, I’m pleased that I’m keeping up with these updates. Eventually, people might actually read them…

Before I get into my progress on my 2005 resolutions, I wanted to provide a link to my friend’s website. He recently returned from tsunami-ravaged Thailand, where he came within seconds of falling victim to the giant waves that wiped away whole villages. Read about his survival story.

Along this vein, January 31, 2005 is the last day for you to make a cash contribution to the Asian tsunami relief efforts and still have it be deductible for your 2004 tax returns. Please visit www.usafreedomcorps.gov for a list of charities aiding in the relief effort. Help them rebuild and help yourself too.

Anyway, here’s an update on how I’m doing:

Resolution #2. I’m getting into more of a routine now when it comes to physical activity, so I hope to have some good results soon-ish.

Resolution #5. I started writing a story. I’m not sure how long it will run yet, but I’m on what I believe will be the third chapter when I’m done. This works out to twenty pages, single-spaced with a space between paragraphs, in 12-point font. One of the challenges I’m finding thus far is remembering to describe the scene in enough detail for the reader to have a picture of what I’m trying to convey. Then it’s a matter of making sure such descriptions don’t seem awkward.

Anyway, a quick word for those of you who are looking to get into video editing on your computer. If you’re looking for low-priced video editing software with more capabilities than Adobe Premiere Elements, check out Sony’s Vegas Movie Studio+DVD. It allows more control over footage, provides more effects and transitions, and allows for custom templates for authoring DVDs. Hopefully, I’ll find time to write a more detailed comparison review between the two products (plus perhaps Nero Vision Express 2), but for now, you can find out more here.

That’s all for now, folks.
