April 6-April 12

Harold wraps up his mini-series of articles with some final advice.

Current Tally Right-Wrong
Survivor 4-1
American Idol 4-3
The Apprentice 0-3
The Amazing Race 1-4

Welcome to the last installment of my Reality Show Predictions.

Recap

Welcome to my last installment of Reality Show Predictions. Seeing as how my spare time has dwindled to the point where I cannot provide the level of analysis needed to provide better predictions, I would probably have had to stop even if people had shown more interest in this feature.

I will continue to provide the scoreboard and picks, but without the analysis, in the general news section of the site from time to time.

American Idol

Last week, Jessica Sierra proved Simon correct in that she certainly didn’t have the same likeability factor as some of the other contestants. In retrospect, it seems like the logical choice.

From here on out, the competition really becomes tricky. In trying to predict the outcome each week, one must look at factors other than that week’s performance unless you see a really strong or really weak performance.

Survivor

After ten Survivor series, the show and its editing become increasingly predictable. For those who become serious about predicting who gets booted off the show each week, check out a spoiler site, filter out the good from the bad, then make an educated guess. This week? We have 2 against 8, and the show likes to merge with 10 castaways left. Considering the intelligence of the Ulong tribe, I don’t think it takes a rocket scientist to figure out how this series will shake out.

The Apprentice

They got me again. Unacceptable! If my record on picking the fired candidate each week proves anything, it’s that you cannot believe the promos!

The Amazing Race

So much for Brian and Greg making the right decisions. If you have the privilege of getting onto this show, READ THE CLUE. This means you too, Uchenna and Joyce. Secondly, don’t waste time changing clothes unless it’s in the car, while the car is moving at top speed. While it could just be more clever editing, it looked like the brothers could have caught the old couple and beat them in a foot race had they just kept going. At this point, I think we should almost expect Meredith and Gretchen to make the final four. Certainly, we have a situation where we can expect two more non-elimination legs, barring any further changes to the show’s format. If there are indeed two left, we can expect one before the final four and one after (right before a two-hour finale). A lot of teams have made mistakes, and Rob and Amber have made the fewest. Expect them to be Yielded at some point–probably by Lynn and Alex. Ron and Kelly look to be headed for a complete meltdown and I wouldn’t be surprised to see them drop out soon.
